The illusion is incredible, making me feel way more connected to the events on screen than I would without this tension. Adding the PS5 Pro Artifact could be a good excuse for players to return to Astro’s Playroom. The game also has one of the easiest platinum trophies on PS5, so completing all levels can be quite rewarding as well. To unlock the ability to find and collect all the Special Bots in Astro’s Playroom, you must have reached and completed the 1994 Throwback stage. The real gimmick of Astro’s Playroom is the utilization of the DualSense controller. Players can feel the vibrations simulated from the game, like raindrops on Astro’s head, or feel the strong gusts of wind, the feeling of walking on a sandy beach, and many more. There are OK365 where Astro must ascend while in a miniature rocket, and players must exert more effort pressing the adaptive triggers. It’s worth noting however that this isn’t the same model from the demo. Other stages are linear platforming challenges that use Astro’s laser-powered hover-jump. These portions are also pretty forgiving, with generous checkpoints and obstacles that provide just enough resistance to make you pause a moment, but not so much that you get stuck.

When one hits you, Astro will be reset to the last checkpoint, and Selene’s capsule will open. These four bots are completely optional, so if you don’t have the time (or the storage space to redownload Astro’s Playroom), know that they won’t give you much of an advantage in Astro Bot. And yet, even when Astro is pulling off his most basic moves in familiar environments, this game feels revelatory. The PS5’s new controller combines a built-in speaker with vibrating haptics to make interacting with the world feel like it’s literally happening in your hand.

If you get it wrong, then you’ll need to scale the hill again, grab another bunch of bananas, and retry the dance minigame. If you’re successful, you’ll unlock the bot and get the “No Escape! Go past the PlayStation face button symbols in the sand, and punch the shell tucked away under the pipe towards the end. To solve the riddle, jump up to the circular platforms above this area, where on the far side, you’ll see a little clock on the column.

Astro Bot is a deluge of PlayStation cameos, and some even get their own, full levels. Jump onto the lilypads, and leap across, but be careful not to fall in the frozen water as that’s lethal! Just a few days ago, we added a second Special Bot, Selene, from the PS5 title Returnal.
